This Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy supplements our Privacy Policy and applies to “consumer health data” as defined by the Washington My Health My Data Act and comparable laws. It is written for consumers in Washington, and for consumers in Nevada and Connecticut whose laws provide similar rights. Welnova is operated by Gokmen Akar. Where this policy and our Privacy Policy differ about consumer health data, this policy controls.

Welnova is built to keep your most sensitive information on your device. Your menstrual cycle and symptom entries, and every Apple Health metric Welnova reads — steps, sleep, resting heart rate, heart-rate variability (HRV), exercise minutes, and active energy — along with the Recovery, Sleep Consistency, and Wellness scores computed from them, stay on your phone. They are never sent to our servers. We can’t see them or share them, because we never receive them.

Consumer health data we collect, and how we use it

The consumer health data tied to your Welnova account and stored on our servers is limited to what you choose to log so it can sync across your devices: your mood check-ins (how you feel, your energy, the feelings and causes you tag, and any notes), your food and nutrition logs, your water intake, your journal entries, and your breathing and meditation sessions. We also keep dated records of the data-processing permissions you turn on or off. We use this data only to provide the App to you — to store your entries, sync them across your devices, and unlock the features you enable. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not sell it.

The following consumer health data is processed only on your device and never reaches our servers: your menstrual cycle and symptom entries, your Apple Health metrics, and the wellness scores derived from them.

Sources of this data

We collect consumer health data directly from you — the entries you create in the App. With your explicit permission, Welnova also reads certain metrics from Apple Health on your device; that data is used on your device and is not collected by us.

Consumer health data we share

We share only what a feature you have switched on requires. If you use AI meal photo analysis, we share the single meal photo you choose to scan with our AI provider to estimate its nutrition — we share only that photo, not your other logs, and not your on-device cycle or Apple Health data.

Everything that stays on your device — your cycle entries, your Apple Health metrics, and your scores — is never shared, because we never receive it. We do not sell consumer health data, and we do not share it for advertising.

Third parties we share with

We share consumer health data only with the service providers that make a feature work, each handling only what its service needs:

  • OpenAI — analyzes the meal photo you choose to scan and returns an estimated nutrition breakdown.
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS), with sign-in handled by Amazon Cognito, both in Singapore — host your account and the synced entries above so they are available across your devices.
  • Google Firebase — anonymous crash reporting, which carries no health values, and optional, opt-in usage analytics that never contain your actual health values.
  • Apple — Sign in with Apple, Apple Health (on your device), and App Store subscription billing.

Welnova is operated by an individual developer and has no corporate affiliates, so we share no consumer health data with any affiliate.

Your rights

If you are a consumer in Washington, Nevada, or Connecticut, you have the right to:

  • Confirm whether we are processing your consumer health data, and access that data;
  • Withdraw your consent to our collection and sharing of your consumer health data; and
  • Delete your consumer health data.

You can withdraw any data-processing consent at any time in Settings > Data & Privacy, and you can permanently delete your account and its synced data from Settings > Account > Delete Account — deletion cascades across our servers. Consumer health data that lives only on your device — your cycle entries, your Apple Health metrics, and your scores — is removed when you delete it on your device or remove the App.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@welnova.app. We may need to verify your identity before we act, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our response; where applicable, you may also contact your state Attorney General.
